Woodstock Chimes Precious Stones Chimes - AmberReviewsVery tiny, very pretty, and beautiful tinkling (but not tinny) musical tones. It's like a miniature wind chime, suitable for indoors or out. My only disappointment was that the Amazon product description included a "story" of the meaning of the amber, and this description is not included on the packaging of the product itself. Since this was a gift, I wanted the meaning printed on the box label. But the chimes were a big hit anyway. And a different description--of amber as the "tears of the sun"--was included. This is my 3rd Woodstock chime purchase. All in all, I'm impressed with the quality of Woodstock products and would want no other windchimes. Average Rating:![]() |

ZombielandReviewsIf you love Zombie movies, go check this out! I have it on Blu-Ray for my PS3 and the picture is fantastic. Great movie. When I saw the previews for this movie online and on TV, I was really looking forward to it and pegged it as a theater-worthy viewing. I never got around to seeing it in the theater, and I got lucky. Now, this isn't a bad movie per se, but there isn't a lot that it has going for it either. It was billed as a zombie comedy along the lines of Shaun of the Dead, but it's not funny. Woody Harrelson brandishes plenty of weapons, but it's not an action movie and for all the zombies, it's definitely not a horror movie. There are just too many things that brought this film down to where I really wanted to see it and then when I saw it I kind of wished I hadn't wasted my time: -- Jesse Eisenberg is extremely annoying in this movie. I know he's supposed to be, but it's not the kind of annoying where you're like, 'He's doing a good job of being annoying.' It's more like, 'Dammit, he's so frickin' annoying!' It's one of the reasons why the movie has so little payoff. If you hate the main character, then why would his love interest not feel the same way? -- If everyone is a zombie and there is no human flesh to feed on save the four people in a Hummer, then how exactly do the zombies survive? Don't they die of starvation? I know they're the undead, but surely the undead eat too? -- Why exactly do they need to go to Pacific Playland? To ride rollercoasters? To find some form of the innocence and carefree attitude they had before the epidemic? The one thing that supposedly drives the movie forward is this paradise of Pacific Playland, but there's no appraent reason why that is. -- The music is pretty lame. I like Metallica and I love Doves and Black Keys, but their music doesn't fit in here, especially in the scenes where the music is used. Not the worst movie I've ever seen (that would be Max Payne or The Avenging Disco Godfather), but most certainly not the best. The best zombie movie ever and one of my favorite comedies. One to watch over and over. This movie not only looks and sounds great on Blu-Ray, but this flick is funny as $@#*!!!!! No spoilers, but there's a guest that really amps up the laughs and the over the top performances are spot on, never going too far into camp. My family was laughing out loud through most of the movie. Zombies for laughs like Shaun of the Dead, Revenge of the Living Dead and the Evil Dead movies. BUT..... this is the new generation, funnier and more extreme. LOVED IT!!!!!! I know zombie movies are just supposed to be harmless fun that you suspend disbelief somewhat to enjoy, but how did these girls manage to operate carnival rides while riding them? In a zombie Apocalypse? And why is the electricity still on everywhere? *yawn* Woody Harrelson is hard to dislike in anything he's in, and this is no exception, but what is with Jesse Eisenberg? He is like the poor-man's Michael Cera. Except way more annoying and unlikable. Go see a zombie movie worth seeing, like the original "Dawn of the Dead (Divimax Edition)" or the not strictly zombie pic "28 Days Later (Widescreen Edition)." Zombieland: What a load of junk, and not even any fun when considered as parody. It even manages to make Bill Murray seem boring and unfunny. Glad I saw it on demand for five bucks instead of paying for it permanently. To wrap up: Just plain awful. Average Rating:![]() |

Thrillers: 4 Film Favorites (Copycat, Diabolique, The Crush, Pacific Heights)ReviewsI have seen and own all four of these films only seperately, not in this set. The strongest film here is Copycat, the best in the psychological thriller genre since The Silence of the Lambs with Oscar winner and nominee Holly Hunter and Sigourney Weaver. The Crush is a very enjoyable B-movie treat in the realm of Fatal Attraction and is the most memorable since that one mostly because of Alicia Silverstone's breakout performance although her career has never prospered. Diabolique is a remake of the 1955 French version only Hollywood-nized. Sharon Stone is yet again using what works best for her as in Basic Instinct and Kathy Bates has a great supporting role as a private detective. Pacific Heights is a fun thriller about a tenant played by Michael Keaton who gives landlords Matthew Modine and Melanie Griffith more than they can handle. It is definitely watchable although not my favorite. Melanie's mother Tippi Hedren of The Birds makes a cameo here. All in all, a nice bundle for price! WARNER's THRILLERS: 4 FILM FAVORITES offers two above average movies ("Copycat" and "Pacific Heights") along with a couple of flawed yet still interesting exercises in suspense. And at four-for-the-price-of-one, it's a solid deal. Transfer quality is first rate. SYNOPSES-- COPYCAT-- Criminal psychologist is being stalked by a killer who emulates famous murderers of the past. The emotionally housebound doctor makes a target that two detectives find increasingly harder to protect. Superbly executed film includes Harry Connick Jr. in his best character role, that of a deranged and imprisoned serial killer. THE CRUSH-- A young teanaged girl's unrequited love for the journalist living in her family's guest house leads to extreme violence. Screenwriter/director Nick Shapiro based his story on events from his own life. DIABOLIQUE-- A schoolmaster's wife and mistress collaborate to murder him and dump his remains. The body disappears from its resting place and the two women start to unravel when a retired detective begins investigating the teacher's disappearance. Excellent cast is somewhat wasted due to mediocre direction, scripting and cinematography. PACIFIC HEIGHTS-- Young couple's plans to renovate a San Francisco house are ruined by the "tenant from hell." Michael Keaton is deliciously sinister. Watch for the star of Hitchcock's "The Birds," Tippi Hedren, in a minor role. Like Hitch, this film's director, John Schlesinger, makes a cameo appearance (as a man in the elevator). STEPHEN KING: 4 FILM FAVORITES (also from WARNER HOME VIDEO) is a quirky quadruple dose of camp, suspense, drama and terror. Parenthetical numbers preceding titles are 1 to 10 viewer poll ratings found at a film resource website. (6.5) Copycat (1995) - Sigourney Weaver/Holly Hunter/Dermot Mulroney/William McNamara/Harry Connick Jr. (5.1) The Crush (1993) - Cary Elwes/Alicia Silverstone/Jennifer Rubin/Kurtwood Smith/Amber Benson/Gwynyth Walsh (5.0) Diabolique (1996) - Sharon Stone/Isabelle Adjani/Chazz Palminteri/Kathy Bates/Spalding Gray/Shirley Knight/Donal Logue (6.2) Pacific Heights (1990) - Melanie Griffith/Matthew Modine/Michael Keaton/Mako/Tippi Hedren/Dan Hedaya (uncredited: Beverly D'Angelo/John Schlesinger) Four watchable thrillers for under twenty bucks. Good stuff, Warner Bros! Includes Copycat, The Crush, Diabolique and Pacific Heights. None of these movies are masterpieces; they fall under what I consider "rainy afternoon" films. They're not without their own unique merits, though. How could you resist Michael Keaton as a psycho and Alicia Silverstone's most notable performance (aside from Clueless)? Engaging time killers. The only reason I gave it four stars is because my copy includes the fullscreen version of Copycat (even though the case says widescreen). But, hey, a bargain is a bargain. The other three are in widescreen. And each movie has all the special features available on their single disc counterparts. Contains two double-sided DVD's; one movie for each side. Colonel Ichabod Conk Straight Razor Sharpening StoneReviewsGood decent sharpening stone. A little narrow for most blades. You'll have to hold diagonally to keep the entire blade in contact with the stone. To get a good straight razor shave, you need a wet stone that is at least 4000 grit if not 8000 on one side, and 4000 on the other. This thing had NO grit level written on the front or back. Cost was right, if I wanted a really good stone, I should have bought the one that cost 89.00. Which I did... Now I can shave.. Oh yeah, I had to buy a 90.00 straight razor as well.. If you plan on sharpening kitchen knives or fishing hooks.. great stone for the price.. WORTHLESS for straight razors. I bought it becaue it was a package deal.. it was a mistake. I purchased this when first getting into straight razors because I didn't know what I was doing. I would even go so far to say that this is exactly who this product is geared towards -- the uninformed. It WILL put a crude edge on your razor (if you know what you're doing) but can just as easily permanently damage your razor. I will keep for knife sharpening, but it will not touch my new Dovo. PROS -Cheap, can be used for honing practice on a cheap, practice razor. CONS -Not useful for serious honing on serious shavers. -Way too narrow (even for cross motion honing). I bought this stone before I knew anything about straight razor shaving.. Had I read a LITTLE BIT more about honing and using straight razors, I would not have purchased this one. Amongst the Cons: The stone.. ..isn't wide enough to accommodate the entire blade edge ..isn't long enough to allow a satisfying pass ..still requires a lap to flatten ..without other stones, your ability to restore, repair, and re-edge a blade are severely restricted As any experienced straight razor owner knows, a satisfying and frustrating shave are separated, quite literally, by a razor's edge. Since honing a straight razor is so sensitive to technique and honing style, it's important, especially for beginners, to find a tool that gives every possible advantage to the user. If you're looking for an easy to use set of honing stones, I recommend the Norton Waterstone Starter Kit. It includes the WIDELY supported 4000/8000 Combo Waterstone (it's the standard by which all other hones are compared in the shaving community), a coarser 220/1000 stone, and the all-important Lapping Stone, to flatten your hones. If you're even considering this stone, you're probably a beginner.. if this is the case, learn from a one-time beginner and go with something else! Average Rating:![]() |

Large Vitalio ''Amber Hobo'' - Brown, Orange, Cream or PurpleReviewsI recently ordered this for a friend and myself. The orange is a bit brighter in person, which makes it look a bit cheap. It is not an expensive bag by any means so I didn't mind, but if the orange faux leather was a bit darker, I think it would make it look more expensive and glam. That aside, it holds anything I need to take with me. I wish the drop was another inch longer but it works okay. I will definitely pull this out again in the summer and next fall. Nice enough bag for the price. I love my bag so much that I am going to purchase another color. I have received quite a few compliments on the design - beading and tassels. The bag has more than enough room for all my stuff. 3 large areas to hold sunglasses, pens, wallet and more. The bag can be worn either on my shoulder, my preference, or over your arm at the elbow. Super value. VERY LITTLE WRITE AND SPEAK INGLES, IN LITTLE WORD EXCELENT THE PROCESS OF TRANSACTION AND SERVICE VERY GOOD THANK. THE CONGRATULATION. I bought this bag for my mother. She tends to go through handbangs really fast, either due to changing tastes or the bag just breaks down. She takes her bags with her wherever she goes. This is an oversized bag, so I worried that it would be too big for her frame (she's only 5' tall), but it fits her perfectly. I got it in purple for her. She gets compliments on it a lot and a lot of people ask her where she got it. The details and beading have been so good so far. Like I said, she likes to take her bags with her wherever she goes, so I was concerned about the detailing coming off (specifically the gem beading). The gem beading is quite secure and sown on, but not gaudy looking. The bag itself is very soft and faux leather feeling, so it would be easy to clean. There is plenty of room in the bag, but if you don't fill it up it isn't going to lose it's shape (a problem that I have had with other handbags). It looks good and is functional. I love this bag, I have had it for a few months now and can not be happier with it. The bag has plenty of room and I have received so many compliments. Average Rating:![]() |

I, Amber BrownReviewsAmber Brown disobeys her mom and lies to her dad about getting her ears pierced. She feels left out because her mom is getting remarried. I love the Amber Brown books because they are very exciting and sometimes the characters get stressed out, but they always talk it out and discuss their feelings. Then they get along. It is just like real life. This is a great book for kids whose parents are divorced or kids who want to understand what other kids' lives are like. JG This book is fun for kids of all ages! This Amber Brown book is about a girl named Amber Brown and she wants to get her ears pierced, but her mom does not allow her to. So, since her parents are divorced, Amber's dad gets to take Amber anywher she wants. So, her father took her to get her ears pierced but her father didn't know that her mom had said no. So, when Amber got home, she got in trouble. Kids should read this book, I think, around Christmas because it takes place near Christmas. The author's message is to not do things you are not allowed to do. I have read other Amber Brown books and looked forward to reading this one. She is pretty cool. Sometimes I think she has more brains than the adults, especially her mom, who sometimes seems very spoiled and selfish for an adult. This is a funny true to life on target book. If you haven't discovered Amber Brown, this is the one. I bought this book for my daughter to read during X'mas break. I soon as she started reading the first page, she could not put this book down. She laughed the whole time. I guess we will have to order more books for her, 'caus this one was all done in one night! Creating Affluence: Wealth Consciousness in the Field of All Possibilities (Chopra, Deepak)ReviewsMy all-time favorite cassette tape! Nobody gets my excited about creating a wonderful reality than Deepak Chopra and this cassette is one that I keep coming back to year after year. Highly recommended for those who wish to learn how to live a more joyful life! This book can make you feel better about anything. Kind of unusual as it goes A to Z a dictionary of Affluence. You may think of this book as a friend that you can always trust for support! I can't begin to do justice to this remarkable tape by Dr. Chopra. His words and philosophy have enriched my life in both subtle and profound ways. A short while after I began to listen to this tape, my life began to offer me wealth & opportunities that simply came my way, without any effort and this flow of wealth & opportunities has continued throughout the five years I have had this tape in my possession. The real beauty of this tape is that you need only to listen to it, (which I do every day in my car), and the wealth and affluence, that according to Dr. Chopra are what the Universe(GOD)wants for us, begin to make a presence in your life without any special effort on your part. So BUY THIS TAPE, (I have the book too, but it really is better if you can listen to the tape every day). Just listen every day and your life will change in fabulous ways, I guarantee it! I love this tape! It's very grounding and I never tire of listening to Dr. Chopra. I had been in a situation where I had tried for over 6 weeks to land a new job. After going on countless interviews and being told "we will be in contact" then never hearing back, I felt the interview I went to on 11/8 would be much of the same. On 11/9 I went to the library and came across the audio cassette. I listened to it daily, just enjoying Dr. Chopra's insites and his reading of the A to Z list. On 11/12 I had 5 messages on my machine responding to my resume, including the interviewer from 11/8 wanting a second interview. On 11/13 I went for the second interview and was hired on the spot. I would be making more money and have more independence than my previous position! And I could feel a distint, yet subtle shift in my perceptions of the world and I could just feel happiness and the Zest for life he mentions. I highly recommend. In fact, I am going to place an order right now for my own copy of this wonderful tape! This book although very short, should be required reading! From "abundance" to "zest", it covers just about everything required to lead a content, happy, productive and profitable life. I have owned this book for about 8 years and have re-read it many, many times. The introduction sets the whole tone of the book by stating "there is power in knowledge, desire and spirit, and this power within you is the key to creating affluence". We realize quickly that it is our inborn nature to be abundant... to be affluent. By desiring something, stating our intention, then letting go of our attachment to it, we can recieve all that we desire from life, wether in money, love, position or anything else we may seek. The first part of the book discusses quantum reality and how we and everything else in our world are all made of the same "stuff", which is primarily energy... or "non-stuff". What makes one thing different from another is the arrangement and quantity of these impules of energy and information.Part one of the book gives one or two simple ideas under each letter of the alphabet that are short, sweet and very much to the point. Beacuse it is in such an easy to read and brief format, this is the kind of book you will want (and the author suggests you do) read over and over again. Depending on where you are with your life at any given moment, you will pull something more out of it with each reading.Part two of the book discusses our similarities to the unified field. It discusses the 25 charachteristics of the field and how these are also the characteristics of "Brahman, the source of all creation, as described in the Veda, the classic spiritual text of India". This part, although intersting, was not as good as part one, but overall I still have to rate this book as one of the best I have ever read! This book will only take an hour or two to read but the messages it sends are timeless... read it again and again so you don't miss a word! It's fantastic! Average Rating:![]() |

Dolce Vita Women's Amber Wrap BootReviewsI get comments on these boots whenever I wear them -- the ties make for lovely added style and the quality can't be beat. The soles are made of a nice leather and the rest of the boot is soft suede. I have the graphite but would purchase again in other colors! The very slight heel is a nice touch: just enough to make them a little bit dressy and add a bit of length to one's legs, but definitely low enough to be comfortable for every day. A great addition to a casual or dressy outfit! I love everything about these boots except for the fact that the tie does not like to stay tied. I finally gave up on cute bows and tied in the firmest knot I could; that seems to have worked for now. I wear them whenever it's cold and dry enough for me to. Average Rating:![]() |
