This compact little book is one of the best introductions to crystals I've seen in a guide of any size. It is easy to use and beautifully illustrated with many helpful photographs. Silveira focuses only on the main members of the quartz family - clear, tangerine, amethyst, citrine, smoky and rose. With obvious love and mastery of her subject, she shows how to identify the various forms, and describes the origins and the metaphysical properties and uses of each variant. The last section describes her personal experience with crystals, and includes tips on selecting and arranging them for special applications and how to energize and cleanse them.

This book is full of exercises that help one to understand the mysteries of the crystalline world. Through study of each of the exercises contained herein, one gains proficiency in grounding, centring, energy work, dreamwork, healing, transmitting energy, and all of the crystal basics as well. This book also includes information about crystal tools and jewelry, in addition to displaying many illustrations and photographs to accompany each chapter. Silbey is very good at what she does, and this is one of the few books to really give you a hands-on approach to co-creating on the path to mastery with the quartz crystal.

This book is a marvelous tool for crystal working. Doesn't just give you a list of the stones and what they are good for (like almost every stone book out there) but teaches you about stone properties through color, among many other things. It teaches you how to work with your crystals, cleansing, meditating, programming, divining, use in jewelry, choosing and much more. Excellent tool, highly recommend.

This book cover much more than just stones and their propeties. In it you will learn how to work with them in various ways. It is a course book in many ways for she takes you thru lessons from one chapter to the next. This is not a new book but it is one of the best.

It's so much more than just a crystal handbook. Very interesting and discusses many different aspects involved in healing.

When I first bought this book 9 years ago, I was turned off by the immediate New Age, Age of Aquarius and Ancient Civilizations of Atlantis and Lemuria feel. The book sat on my shelf for a long time. This book is not a Beginner's Book. I would suggest this book for an intermediate and advanced student because of the texts and the over complicated meditation techniques outlined. The second thing to know about this book is that it focuses on the usage of Quartz Crystals. As a focus book on just this one crystal, it covers a lot of good detail and information. Especially when you can set aside that whole New Age, Age of Aquarius and Ancient Civilizations. Otherwise, it's a decent book, if you're looking to learn about using crystals and their healing energies, this is well worth consideration.

While not what I consider a "classic text" on the subject, this is a very comprehensive introduction to working with the quartz crystal. Its subtleties introduce fewer forms of quartz and other gems in order to focus moreso upon the application of them to our lives. I highly reccomend the book to those searching for an earlier work with a very "New Agey" flair. It leaves out much of the glitz and glamour of the books of the era, however it cannot escape it altogether. This book does build upon some great earlier works, and it promulgates some very good practices found therein.

This little book primarily focuses on quartz and it's wonderfull healing applications. The pictures and diagrams are well drawn to better help the reader understand what she'he is working with. I had lots of fun coloring in the pictures with colored pencils as well! Go ahead and buy it, you can't go wrong with this one.

It gives some partially effective forms of meditation and healing, but goes to deep on just one stone and is way to complicated and confusing for the beginner it is made out to be for. It gives long and hard ways to complete simple tasks.
